What quality do you value most in a friend?

What quality do you value most in a friend?

William Shakespeare once wrote, “No legacy is so rich as honesty,” and he was right. I’ve tried to teach my kids and grandkids to be honest, and take responsibility for their actions as I’ve tried to do. Oh, I’m not talking about the little half-truths we tell so as not to hurt someone’s feelings. I’m talking about lying and cheating because we don’t want to admit we’re doing something wrong. In fact, I love when Judge Judy says that if you tell the truth, you don’t have to have a good memory. I want my friends to have good memories. I want them to tell me when I have spinach between my teeth or toilet paper on my shoe. I even want them to tell me if I’ve said or done something that bothered them, so I don’t do it again. I want to know that I can trust them, count on them. I know this sounds like a tall order, but I hope they can expect this from me as well. Because when a lie comes to light, as it always does, it inevitably hurts more than than the truth would have.
